Born 1988, Bayamón, PR. Lives and works in New York, USA.
In his wide multi-media practice Juan Antonio Olivares explores the natural world, in its entirety, as an unlimited state of wonder that is deeply personal, affecting and highly charged. His harnessing of imagery and objects ranging from the microscopic to the cosmic touches upon themes of otherness, connectivity and a universal desire to place oneself in time and space.
His recent solo shows include 'Humane Ecology: Eight Positions' at The Clark Art Institute, Williamstown (2023), 'Unto Dust' at Freedman Fitzpatrick Gallery, Paris (2023), 'Self Portrait' at Bernheim, Zurich (2022) and 'Transference' at ChertLüdde, Berlin (2021).
