Born 1942, Hinwil, Switzerland. Died 2004, Bern, Switzerland.
Consumed with an idea of translating photography into three dimensions, the reliefs of Rico Weber (1942-2004) range from the compositional to the rendered. Psychologically charged, the pieces are universal, yet full of occult and rural Swiss references that embed the works with a presence of place, permanence and dislocation.
His recent solo shows include 'Une idée de la réalité' at Espace Jean Tinguely Niki de Saint Phalle, Fribourg (2023), 'Silver Dust' at Bernheim, Zurich (2020) and 'Colors on Speed' at Bernheim, Zurich (2018).
