Born 1992, Cincinnati, USA. She lives in New York, USA.
Michelle Uckotter paints sinister scenes from cinematic nightmares which take place in dismal attics oddly enlightened, inhabited by doll-like women who do not seem to be in danger of anything. Taking inspiration from video games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, or movies like The Shining, Michelle aka Shelley aims with her poetics to both seduce and repel the viewer, but with the final intent of making people laugh.
Her recent solo exhibitions were shown at King's Leap, New York; Bernheim, Zurich; Marc Selwyn Fine Art, Los Angeles and T293, Rome.
